Orchard Trust's new kitchen

Opened in 1989, 'The Orchards' care home in Stowfield was the starting point for the Orchard Trust.

In late 2017 the Orchard Trust approached us for funding to repair or replace the floor in their main Day Centre kitchen to enable conversion into an accessible commercial kitchen able to serve a cafe for their Stowfield Day Service site. The cafe will offer visitors to the site a place to sit and take refreshment and will be accessible to all abilities, it will also offer alternative employment to Orchard Trust's service users and other disabled adults in the Dean.

This project is now complete and the new kitchen was formally opened by Paralympian Andy Lewis MBE on 11 May 2022. We are happy to have helped! Thank you to Chris Hammersley for the photo.

The Orchards is situated on the outskirts of the village of Lydbrook, in the Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and consists of two semi-detached cottages with gardens and panoramic views of the local countryside. From the care home there is easy access to a sensory garden, a smallholding, a therapy centre (consisting of a accessible swimming pool and floor trampoline), wheelchair accessible activity park and woodland.
